The Landscape of Chinese Renewable Energy Projects Overseas — Q2 2026 Bingcai Liu, Zhengyun Zhou, Wei Shen July 2026 International Institute of Green Finance (IIGF) Institute of Development Studies (IDS) D-CORE Q2 2026 · The Landscape of Chinese Renewable Energy Projects Overseas Page 2 About this Publication This report is produced by the International Institute of Green Finance (IIGF) at Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), Beijing, China, in collaboration with the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Brighton, UK. It presents a quarterly update of the D-CORE (Database of Chinese Overseas Renewable Energy Projects), tracking project activities recorded in Q2 2026 (April–June 2026). The findings reflect those of the authors and do not necessarily represent the views of IIGF or IDS. Data Note The D-CORE database currently records 1,512 overseas renewable energy project activities with Chinese involvement, spanning January 2022 to June 2026 and representing about 487 GW of contracted capacity in aggregate. This visible dataset applies to a consistent set of quality filters. It retains only projects with an identifiable primary Chinese entity and, for capacity-based technologies, a valid numeric installed-capacity figure. Each record represents one distinct project with a primary Chinese implementing entity, so that projects with multiple Chinese participants are counted once to avoid double-counting. This edition focuses on the 101 projects (35.1 GW) whose most recent tracked milestone occurred in Q2 2026. For year-on-year comparison, the corresponding figure for Q2 2025 (April–June 2025) is 116 projects (32.1 GW), drawn from the same filtered dataset. Over the first half of 2026, the databa...
