Advance in the study of assessment and utilizationof tidal energy resource in ChinaWU He, WANG Xin, LI Shou-hong(National Ocean Technology Center, Tianjin 300112)Abstract:The assessment of tidal energy resource in the coastal area of China has been reviewed in this paper. Themerits and shortage in the utilization of tidal energy have been summarized firstly, and several ways designed for thedevelopment of tidal energy also have been referred. Not only the main methods of assessment of tidal energy resource, butalso the results from four surveys in China since the foundation of PRC have been discussed and described in detail,including the spatial and temporal distribution of the tidal energy of China.
